Chiptech Invest in Office Refurbishment

13 July 2026

At Chiptech, we’re proud to call Lancaster home.

That’s why we’re excited to share news of a significant investment in one of the city’s most historic buildings: our headquarters at Palatine Hall in Dalton Square.

Over the coming months, we’ll be undertaking a major refurbishment programme, investing a significant sum to restore, modernise and future-proof this remarkable building while protecting the heritage that makes it such an important part of Lancaster’s story.

Palatine Hall has stood at the heart of the city for more than two centuries. Since opening in 1799 as Lancaster’s first openly Roman Catholic chapel, it has served many purposes, including a concert hall, theatre, cinema and, more recently, office space.

Since 2023, it now forms the home of our UK and Europe operations, and we’re committed to ensuring it continues to serve the city and the telecare community for generations to come.

As custodians of a Grade II Listed building, we recognise the responsibility that comes with preserving an important piece of local history. Working closely with HPA Chartered Architects, Form Interior, Duckett Building Services, Pinington, and Lancaster City Council, we’ll be carrying out a carefully planned programme of restoration and improvement that respects the building’s character while creating a workplace designed for the future.

The refurbishment will include structural improvements, upgraded facilities, enhanced accessibility, and greater energy efficiency throughout the building. We’re also restoring a number of original architectural features, helping to bring back details that have gradually deteriorated over time.

Once completed, the 12,500-square-foot space will provide a flexible environment that supports every aspect of our work, from operations and testing facilities, to collaborative workspaces and workshops to further push our product design and innovation. The design has been developed with adaptability in mind, allowing the building to evolve alongside our business as we continue to grow.

This investment reflects our long-term commitment to Lancaster and the wider Lancashire community. Since establishing ourselves here in 2019, we’ve built strong local partnerships, maintained a predominantly Lancashire-based supply chain and supported community initiatives across the region.

Most importantly, the project will provide a home that helps us continue our mission of developing technology that enables people to live safer, more independent lives. By breathing new life into Palatine Hall, we’re investing not only in Chiptech’s future, but also in the future of a building that has been part of Lancaster’s heritage for over 225 years.
